Bradford College
Enhancing teaching and learning experiences through college furniture in Bradford
Bradford College was working with architects and contractors to bring its £35 million, 24,000m2 new-build, the David Hockney Building, to life. The new building was set to replace outdated facilities with a modern, sustainable learning environment for cutting-edge student experiences.
The brief
Richardsons was tasked with supplying all freestanding further education furniture for Bradford College’s new build, covering both social areas and learning spaces. The furniture supplied needed to work within the layout provided by the project’s architect to meet client expectations and create a cohesive learning environment throughout the building.
The Senior Leadership Team was committed to ensuring the new college building’s furniture was as sustainable as possible, in line with its environmental goals, while also being durable and fit for purpose in a busy further education environment.
Our approach
Our team was committed to sourcing furniture for Bradford College that closely matched the architectural drawings and agreed-upon designs to bring the vision of the David Hockney Building to life.
Our team worked closely with our network of manufacturers to ensure Bradford College’s educational furniture was locally sourced and sustainable. The new college building’s furniture was assembled in Britain, with upholstery fabric sourced locally from within West Yorkshire. The college’s furniture included fabrics made from recycled materials such as plastic bottles, and was made to be durable enough to withstand heavy use over many years.
