Creating a consistently high quality student experience across The Sheffield College’s facilities
The Sheffield College provides further education across a number of sites in Sheffield, South Yorkshire. Leaders chose to work with Richardsons to bring the college facilities up to date across all sites for greater consistency and an improved experience for both students and staff.
The brief
The Richardsons team was tasked with updating multiple areas across all of The Sheffield College’s campuses, including reception areas, student advice hubs, staff rooms and bespoke learning areas.
The aim was for each area of each campus to feel like a cohesive whole with consistent facilities and carefully matched further education furniture across each site.
Our approach
Where appropriate, we created bespoke sixth form furniture and used careful space planning and partitioning to make the most efficient use of existing spaces.
We invested a significant amount of time in matching colours and materials from different suppliers to create a suite of educational furniture that felt cohesive across the various campuses.
The result
The Sheffield College is now made up of modern, adaptable spaces for high-quality teaching and learning and a more engaging student experience.
Reception areas
New, bespoke reception counters at each campus create a consistent welcome throughout Sheffield.
Innovation suite
Height-adjustable desks, modular seating and tables that convert into whiteboards create a innovative multi-purpose spaces.
Student café
A wide corridor has been adapted to become more efficient and improve the student experience with a café space.
Staff rooms and offices
New staff rooms and back offices offer more space for staff to work, providing an improved employee experience.
The impact
Every campus now feels like a clear part of The Sheffield College, which has been modernised through consistent college interiors, new further education furniture and enhanced college facilities. Each space is now fit-for-purpose, easily adapting to meet staff and students’ needs.
